What makes a person unique? There are many things that make someone unique. From the way they dress, to the way they style their hair, to even what is on their music playlist. All of these things make anyone inherently unique but also are interchangeable. We all go through phases in our life, remember that emo phase you had, or that diehard sports persona you have rooting for your favorite teams? A lot of these things do and will change over time however, just as easily as you can get tired of that hair style or find a new genre of music to listen to.
To me, what ultimately stands out as being unique to each individual is their laugh. Humor in itself is such a powerful tool. It can turn around your mood in an instant, and when truly enjoying the moment, the laughter that it brings is special. Some have a loud, bolstering laugh, while others have a softer, more subtle approach. When someone is in the moment, and their laughter takes over, the sound, the expression, seems as unique as one’s fingerprint.
The beauty of laughter is it doesn’t have to be taught. Its not anything we have to spend time practicing either. It’s almost as fluent as breathing or blinking your eyelids. It also has the ability to trigger memories. We all can remember the time we were told a funny joke, or the joy we had when we were laughing and having a good time. Within those memories, its as though we are communicating with just our laughter alone.
